update on Guimaras oil spill

Dear Friends,

The Visayan Sea Squadron, currently headed by Atty. Antonio Oposa, along with Senator Cayetano, Congressman Acosta and Congressman Roces recently assessed the damage along Guimaras last August 26, 2006. With heavy hearts and tearful eyes, they watch helplessly as oil slick and sludge slowly ate up what was left of the rich marine life that was carefully protected by Guimaras. Recent reports have confirmed that four coastal towns of Iloilo have already felt the effect of the oil contamination, namely Ajuy, Concepcion, Barotac Nuevo and Dumangas. A few more days and it will reach Eastancia and the northern area of Iloilo, where Panay's fishing port is located. It is this alarming rate that more efforts in prevention of its continuing spread is taken.

As i type, the oil spillage slowly encompasses the areas around Guimaras Island and is now moving up towards the north through Guimaras Strait, damaging Panay and Negros in its wake. Families dependent on their fishing livelihood are robbed of their means of living. Our rich seafood is contaminated, and we are slowly but surely killed with health problems resulting from this terrible environmental disaster. With 2 million liters of oil spillage each day leaking out to destroy what is left of our natural resources along in Guimaras, recent reports say it is the worst natural disaster our country is facing.

We encourage fellow filipinos to help out in the cause of preventing its spillage to reach further waters, and as much as possible, clean up the damage done. We appeal to all filipinos to help out and be more aware of the situation. We appeal to members of Congress, the Senate and other government officials to help us by thoroughly investigating this matter and TAKE ACTION.

It is for this cause that i am coordinating with them to create this donation drive. In lieu of cash, we are readily accepting donations of fishing rubber boots, rubber gloves and masks for the volunteers and fisherfolk who are, as i type, working to clean up the damage, with no thought of their health. They go through the muck in sandals and slippers, with not even a mask to protect their lungs. We also accept donations of hair and chicken feathers to create brooms needed to mop up the oil.

We thank our donors and volunteers for their generosity. As of this weekend, we have received donations bnoth in cash and in kind from the following:

-Ms. Johanna Clavecilla (cash)
-Mango Comics (cash)

an appeal for HELP

Dear Friends,

With 2 million liters of oil spillage each day leaking out to destroy what is left of our natural resources along in Guimaras, recent reports say it is the worst natural disaster our country is facing.

The Visayan Sea Squadron have started volunteer work to help out fishermen, residents and fellow ilonggos who have been badly affected. Atty. Antonio Oposa, a lawyer specializing on environmental law, is currently heading the organization. Yesterday, the group along with Senator Cayetano, Congressman Acosta and Congressman Roces assessed the damage along Guimaras. Help Out Guimaras --- NOW

THE Philippine Coast Guard said Monday it was racing against time to prevent a major environmental disaster as oil seeped from a tanker that sunk in heavy seas over the weekend and a spokesman said it could take more than a year to clean up the mess. The tanker, Solar I, was carrying two million liters (12,580 barrels) of bunker oil when it sank off the central island of Guimaras on Saturday.

+ + +

As much as i adhere to Greenpeace's statement, we have to act now, as individuals, as fellow filipinos. With the threat to our natural resources, a group of concerned individuals called the Visayan Sea Squad have started voulunteer work to help out fishermen, residents and fellow ilonggos who have been badly affected. Atty.Oposa, a lawyer specializing on environmental law, is currently heading the organization. It is for this cause that i am coordinating with them to create this donation drive. They go through the muck in sandals and slippers, with not even a mask to protect their lungs.

Each week we will be sending over the accumulated donations to Iloilo to be distributed. For those in the QC area, please send over donations to 12 Highland drive Blueridge A, Katipunan Q.C. within the week. We send donations by Sunday each week. Please contact the number below if you want to have your donations picked up instead. :-) Cash is also a good alternative, for those who shall donate this, we will be buying the much needed materials for you, and put the donation under your name. Please contact me on where to channel the cash donations if ever, since we don't have an account up yet. You can also send it in through the address given. Please attach with your donations your name and contact number so we can update you on the progress (we cannot pay you for your help, but we can at least thank you through media releases of Visayan Sea Squad).

For further questions and other suggestions to help out, please contact through honeylette@gmail.com or through mobile 0915-785-4035. We are also in the process of setting up donation areas where you can drop off your donations (will give more notice on this soon).

A million thanks. It's a struggle to clean up this mess. But with everyone helping out in any way, we can clean this up.

I feel sorry for you that your zero social life and non-existent sex life has been replaced by chismis and work. I feel bad that that is the only way you can feel life, be passionate and "live" out your existence.

You might think you have won the "battle" just because i'm leaving. But i feel like i won. I feel better, actually, for not stooping to your level and spread rumors about you. I feel good that i didn't have to resort to angry shouts of confrontation with you. I feel great that after one more week, i won't have to see you prancing about, walking around like it's part of your daily duties in the office (it's not....SERIOUSLY.) One more week then i won't have to see your ugly mug smiling that plastic smile and ruin my whole day. :-)

everybody's changing and i don't feel the same...

i guess i never really thought about drastic changes until this week. I feel some regret, of bridges to be burned (somehow), of the uncertain changes and the looming future. But i guess all this is part of transition. I wish somehow that things would be different, that everything will be the same when tomorrow (today) comes in. But it never is.

I know that whatever happens tomorrow, well, is inevitably what i want in the end. I really hope that things will be for the better.

For you my friend, I wish for you to be happy, in the distant land.I hope that you will find what you seek, in the land of the rolling hills and the cold billowing winds. I pray for your good health, a peaceful existence and happiness, in what form it may come to you. I shall miss your company, our "dates", and finding happiness in the little things in life. I want want for you you to be happy. God bless and ingat sila sayo!!! hehehhehe ;-)

reviews, rants and the rainy week

The weekend was lovely. home time work. Cuddle snuggle time watching the rain fall as the afternoon comes. Lovely morning me time, drizzling rainy weather enough to cuddle under the sheets and just blissfu;lly be unaware of the outside for a few hours. House cleaning to the max. Secret smiles and challenges (where's your secret kiliti?) Coffee and more coffee. Yummmy sandwiches and hot hot soup. Mmmmm. Playing SIMS in real life. Text twist marathon. CSI marathons and a cryfest over Jerry Maguire. Ahhh.

It's monday and it's raining and i went to work without an umbrella or a good coat. Also, i tried brewing my own coffee at home, to save expenses. Needless to say, i'm pissed. The week hasn't even begun and already i'm wishing it's the weekend.

I just hate this feeling. I hate waking up in the morning already knowing that this will not be a good day. But then again, stranger things have happened, and maybe it will turn out better than i imagine. That is the dream...

Lady in the Water

Excellent.

What i thought to be a nighmarish disappointment (remember The Village? Not that it wasn't an interesting twist, but i really didn't dig the fact that the hoax was the twist) was actually a wonderfully retold (?) bedtime story mixed so beautifully inot the current scene.

I watched it because of Paul Giammati (Sideways) and Bryce Howard (The Village), but mostly because the trailer was artfully made and revealed exciting parts without revealing anything of the movie's twist (very much like any of Shyamalan's previous works). Yes, and because it was his movie.

I love his cast of actors who have beautifully made each role memorable --- from Giamatti's Heep, to Bryce's ethereal muse, even to the seemingly mundane and non-obtrusive presences of the supporting cast --the guardians, the potheads, even the chinese mom.

I love how he makes fun of writing manuals and how-tos. Even as the scenes take place, you see how he incorporates the what-should-be-done and what-to-expect guidelines of each writer, juxtaposing each one with something completely "adlib". He even get to kill a critic (wow, is that ever fun to watch --- revenge with artistic license!). Now that's a killer (literally).

I especially love how he mixed bedtime stories of age-old tradition and apply it into the mundane reality of today, mixing it to create a completely different story altogether without having to sacrfice any of the elements.

So what's the verdict? Despite its cliffhanging ending (as always), the story presents a lovely medley of reality, belief and well, really looking deep into one's self. And for that i'm happy.

It's a good weekend, i think. Apart from the rendevouz at MOA with the store, it was a fun filled weekend, with good friends and new acquaintances making it all happen. A night with party. Conversations with wine. picture taking of Ninja devil duckie in semi-bondage (devil duckie, you're the one!). An otherwise interesting brunch, get-together at a coffee shop and a one feature film which made me rethink motherhood. Top it off with some chill time at home amidts the rain, and a night of music and housemates (literally). Ahh. The weekend is indeed something.

I miss you but not really. Maybe it's just the rain.

Got to meet up with some old college pals (true artists that they are, came dressed as their fave characters --- i feel like it's lantern parade all over again) as well as see my friend's band play. Hmmm. Not a bad evening, we got to see semi-naked star troopers running around the hall for free (disturbingly like the Oble run, i tell ya ---is it december already?)

And, even though Pao's global frequency disguise never grabbed awards (or recognition), it still made a splash, somehow. hehehe

hopeful

... how can you beat a system that refuses to acknowledge its problem?

I can't really explain much about issue that have been bugging me the past week. Suffice to say, it has rendered me depressed beyond anything i have ever felt before, which may have attributed to my not updating anything in my life right now.

I spent my time being morose and sad, seemingly eternally damned with this feeling of loss and inevitable anguish over my recent demise (those who heard my story, you know what i'm talking about). It led me to think of drastic solutions and inevitable options if this is not repaired ASAP.

Friday gave me some sliver of hope, when i talked to the man upstairs. Meeting old friends and galpals also cheered me up, which made my weekend start better that i expected. I felt somehow emancipated from all this worrying, but monday will bring me my bane or boon (whichever is the result).

Wish me luck.

But there's no future for us in these frames.

Smiling back at them. There are no distractions
From family and friends. But do they see it?
Nothing is missing. Teka, pasingit.

super-Max

FUCKIN' A.

A no brainer to figure out i enjoyed this movie. why? Because it was on IMAX.

It was not a premiere, but the night was crowded with celebs (thanks to the GMA-sponsored evening, i guess) and hobnobbing was all around us prior to the screening. Needless to say,i was sorta bemused by all the damn cameras and chitchat around me. Thank God for grounded and semi-jaded friends whom you can always count on to put in a little reality perspective :-)

The 20 mins of Superman on 3D is a bit daunting at first but once you get the hang of those glasses, man, it's spectacular, to say the least. I guess the 3D imagery really made all the difference for me, since the plot was kinda slow and the scenes, well, i was already expecting that twist... a little too unsubtle in the end, i think. (for those who haven't watched it, well, you'll get it when you see the movie) :-P

But yes, the movie itself was pretty great (Brian Singer is GOD) with its amazing effects, lovely cinematography and the oh-so-hot cast they managed to round up. Kudos to Parker Posey, who played my favourite cast member, Kathryn (a.k.a Kitty!) --- she really is such a talent. Also much admiration goes to Brandon Routh (i now remember his name!), the Chistopher Reeve look-alike they got to fill in those shoes. Ooh lala. I was a little put off by Spacey's Lex, but then again, with a double life sentence and some intense 5 years of grudges, who wouldn't go a little batty? :-P It was a surprising change from the character Gene Hackman played from the earlier Superman movie.

But the big thing for tonight was, Inspite some cheesy parts and lines in between, the whole experience of watching Superman on Imax --- it was truly worth the 3 freaking hours (losing sleep in the process ---it's 4 in the freakin' morning and i'm still writing this!) I was able to check out two things tonight:

1. MOA is friggin' big.

2. IMAX can be a pleasurable experience indeed. Hehehe.

life without Camwhoring

So my brother now has my camera.

Not exactly a loss since i got back my ipod mini from him (he held it hostage so i can give back the camera), but i do miss having my camera around. No more camwhoring, imprmptu photoshoots and on the fly clicking. *sigh*.

Then again, maybe i should get a new camera instead. *grins* yey.

+ + +

On another note, i'll be watching Superman Returns on Imax in a few hours. Hmmm. Wonder if the effects will be a lot better on 3D...

+ + +

I think i may be developing an ADD syndrome this late in my life. Seems to me nothing can hold my attention for that long. Yargh. Is this a sign of regression or old age?

Lunch with Mom

Lunch with Mom

Had the opportunity amidst the hullabaloo of everything to spend some QT time with my mom, and we got to have lunch at this chinese resto (not so good food, weird service). Despite the unappetizing meal, we had loads of fun catching up and well, pretty much chillin'. We also got to do some window shopping (though we did get to buy beads we liked, hehe). It's these rare moments that make me really happy knowing i got to go home for a while.

wedding countdown

So i'm back in the province for a couple of days for my cousin's wedding.

The good notes of this whole shebang? Aside from the leave (yey), i get to regroup and reconnect with my cousins, as well as their friends (who agree to help out). I also get to meet the newer members of the clan (younger cousins i have yet to introduce myself to), as well as get to chill with friends in between. Oh yes, and my dress. hahahah.

Haay, naku.

Now what? I've gone through so much the past few hours it's so hard to begin. By this time, half of my relatives from my mom's side has come forth and started what i call the pre-reunion reunion. That means my aunts and uncles from outside the province have started to arrive, and yes, everybody's being briefed about the upcoming event, from the Ilonggo dinner we'll all be having the day before the nuptials, to the event itself. I still have to settle a score with my aunt (the bride's mom) regarding my dress (i didn't follow the orange dress code, see). Plus, the coordination with the program (that's my cue) and our parts in the mass are meticulously monitored to be perfection by my aunts. Oh, the pressure... The body count? So far, it's 8 auncles and aunts(not counting the spouses) and 16 cousins (first cousins). And this is just the girl's mom's family, this is not counting the father's side :-P There's still the remaining bros and sis coming by friday, as well as the groom's family heading down here. Haaaaay, dios me. I feel like a huge baranggay fiesta is coming up this Saturday.

I wonder how i'll survive this....

the so-called vacation

Yesterday...

...got to leave early (yey!) to go to my gown fitting in Makati. Kate was still wasn't done with my tulle skirt when we got there so got to chill in the CBTL Salcedo outlet with my Mcnuggets (late, late lunch) and iced tea. Finally got to try on my gown after half an hour. I'm really, REALLY lovin' it! :-) Sooo Excited!!!

Got the call from the folks that dinner will be late, so ddecided to chill at the Convergys outlet to meet up with bestfriend Kits and Maree for ice blendeds and cheesecake. Had a talkfest after days of OT (all three of us!) --- a great way to catch up! Had a wonderful surprise of meeting up with Larryboi, PaoPao and a new friend, Karen! :-D It's been so long since we got to see each other, it's such a great night!. The time passed easily and i got picked up later on for dinner two hours later. I wish i had my caMera! Damn. Still, there's gonna be a next time...hopefully... :-)

+ + +

Today... still working my ass off so ican leave here at 7pm sharp. I really wish they can approve those designs already...

+ + +

It's another long weekend, and i should be glad. Then why the hell do i feel like i'm heading off to hell?

The past few days have been hellish since i've been working my ass off to finish near-impossible deadlines (some of which are still to be approved) and trying to bear with the pressures of ongoing and upcoming issues (yet to unfold). Yargh... Ngarag galore.

By next week i'll be off to emcee and participate in my cousin's wedding (the first cousin to get hitched, so the pressure's on now!) as well as work with my mom on some family projects. I was hoping that this so-called vacation leave would be indeed a vacation, but apparently it's not gonna be that way. Being provinciana is really as bad as one seems, at least for my part. Yes, i love the family closeness, the endearing clannish protection i get from my family and relatives, but since this is such a BIG event, i'm guessing it'll be one of THOSE things i'd rather be in while high on Valium. Looks like my family's gonna ask those nosy (when are you gonna get hitched?" questions, as well as try to match make me with the "marrigeable" men they know. Oh the pain... not to mention the office will be calling (i'm giving them two days into the long weekend before they start bugging) about stuff i should have done before i left (um, ok.i gave notice that i'll be gone during this time BEFORE i even started working). Oh well. Blame it in the perfectionist and closet OC in me.

...when i used to have a life. When staying up late never meant being stuck in your cubicle until 3am working. When social interaction never had papers and deadlines in between. When meeting up was over alcohol, not coffee. ahhh life.

My lovely "wapak!" black heels, a find in the marikina shoe expo, which give me height (3 inches more) and a lotta conversation starters.

McDonald's milkshakes!!! They're back and blessed be, the outlet five minutres away from my office is finally open AND selling them. oh happy day!

(I should post more pics, heheh. Having drunken men sing their hearts out is way fun to take pics of) Till then, i'll be posting this. I think it's really sad.Too bad, indeed. TH will be missed in the scene.
But hell, their farewell gig was one heck of a night ;-)

medicated

I've been taking medicine for the past few days for a bug that just won't go away, so my body's reacting to it by becoming all mood swing-y. I feel awful for the people who by chance (or not) see me in my state of chaos and emotional upheaval.

Disclaimer: I don't normally cry over the silliest things, thank you very much. As much as i hope to control my random rants and tearfests, i can't, and that's what frustrates me.

Case in point: A few days back, i got home in this depressed mood i can't seem to shake off. Once i got home, i just lost it. Seeing my housemate, i started crying for no apparent reason. He didn't provoke me to cry, nor was i at any point having any reason to just turn on the waterworks. i just started crying. What's worse is seeing that look on his face when i did. (Guys normally don't react to girls crying and if they do, it's usually awkward and silly, which turned out to be the case for this one) Yikes. A girl he thinks is just too "cowboy" actually crying for no reason. *sigh*

I love being a woman, i really do. There's nothing to it in the world. Just give me more stability when it comes to hormones and meds, please?

friday i'm...

... freaking out.

triple shot espresso based coffee drinks are definitely the way to go when calming one's nerves. *sigh* i hate traffic. i really do. Thank god i don't have a car, i may get into an early heart attack.

+ + +

Bear with me, it's a ranting day. I hate the fact that people seem to be making it their priority to get things done the last minute --- like, i've been at Ortigas since last night and nobody had the efficiency or the decency in that place to tell me they will be needing some collaterals for their event TODAY. Like, oh yeah, i'm psychic ---i don't even know you guys have an event! *sigh* SOPs be damned, huh? :-P

+ + +

Di na naman tayo nagkita kagabi. sorry ha. tanginang schedule yan i miss you. kinda.

+ + +

I seem to be stuck in some weird episode of the twilight zone. Tell me when to wake up please.

+ + +

I don't know anymore what i feel. Am i just too jaded to feel anything for anyone, or am i just resistant? I feel bad for not being able to reciprocate any sort of emotion (well, the appropriate one anyway) as well as make you feel that i don't think you are worth my time.

+ + +

I missed you Haydz! I'm so glad we met up last night for coffee and some dinner (well, kinda). Thanks for the bag, i'm lovin' it!!!! (we definitely need to meet up and chat again...)

blogging rants

It seems that my entries for the past few days have been photo blogs (which is fine, if you ask me). But then again, i find myself muddled and confused and i can't seem to put everything in words these days. Must be the stress getting to me. So to recap:

Today:

I'm sitting here printing (yet again) another set of media kits. I seem to be just printing these days. Which makes me wonder what my true purpose in life really is. *sigh* Makes me wonder if waking up this early is really worth it.

Yesterday:

A day that slowly but surely turned bad. First, the outfit. It's post laundry day but unfortunately, my sworn in tuesday outfit in still in the cleaners. Dammit. The printer outsourced for current project fucks up the printing despite their proof shown at the office earlier in the day. Sh*t. My boss complains about my lack of time effeciency in arriving to work. I spend the day printing media kits until overtime. Hahaha.

Bright spots? An afternoon rendevouz of iced coffee and whole wheat croissant, and some dinner brownies from good friends. Oh yeah, and two cheese sandwich (emmental and parmesan, yummy!!) with extra pickle relish. hehehe.

The day before:

Brown rice and squid makes a perfect meal, despite the bizaare weather, some sniffles and some overtime work. Late night T.V. ---ahh, bliss! :-D

+ + +

I always think that sometime when i hit my mid twenties i'll be needlessly working and just be concentrating on some family business or some project of my own. Now that i'm starting off the latter part of my twenties in a few months, i wonder where my life is really leading to. My mind's a blank now, and after a slight mini-meltdown yesterday, i am seriously thinking of moving. again. Hmmm. Is this good?

:-P *sigh*

zzzzz....

sarap matulog sa lamig na 'to. (feels so good to sleep in this weather!)

It's amazing how a tropical depression can alter the weather in so many ways. Just a few days ago it was scorching HOT, and i can literally feel the heat on my skin, and now it's a cloudy windy gloomy day just perfect to grab a hot cup of joe and chill in the room listening to erykah badu :-D

Now all i need is a hot guy to cuddle with under the sheets and i'm all set.

Ahhh, life. :-)

fridays are always nice...

...especially with a rainy start.

I can't believe it's raining, and on May! (Oh well, this environment's too fucked up anyway :-P) I wake up to the pitter patter outside and my first reaction was to smile. I just LUVV waking up to the rain for some reason. The cool breeze, the cloudy skies... it makes me feel light-headed at times. Hehehe. (parang beer, pero walang hangover).

So now it's work, and i am constantly wishing i am at home, enjoying the lazy rainy start of the weekend. Hmmm, three more hours to go? Oh joy :-P

weekend happee

Bunnie's happee thoughts (despite a TOXIC week):

-Got to spend some QT time with Kittykat (the pics are fab, mami!)
-Got to chill with Anne and watch PCK @ Saguijo (yey, Ilonggos rock!)
-Got to eat adobong pusit after a loooong time (goodies from my mumsy)
-Got to play my guitar again (whoo-hoo!)
-Got to have dinner with my mumsy dearie (CIBO eats and treats!)
-Got to spend chill time with Mary and the hausmates (wednesday inuman sessions, rock en roll!)
-Got to smoke under the pale moonlight (sarap talaga mag muni-muni sa cliff!)
-Got to read a really good book (Eleven Minutes, *sigh*)
-Got to have coffee in the morning (yey!)
-Gonna spend another fab weekend!!!

+ + +

This week has been HELL, literally. Miscommunications, tight (as in super!) deadlines, wrecked schedules, bizaare changes and yes, money matters just make things a little too complicated for my taste. Argh. I'm just so glad that despite all that, there are moments that make it worthwhile (read above), and hopefully, there will be some more to come. Can't wait for the weekend to start! :-D

(Me thinks i'm a little too happee due to the caffeine rush. Again. Heheheh)

Celebrate in the dimness
with your shadow
and imagine yourself
with her
Wistful in the musings
of a cigarette smoking man
your eyes are clear now
and your smile
a bit tired

The candles are lit
but there's no one to blow them out
Your reason is now heightened by age
It's your special day
yet you choose to stay clear
of the celebration
and i wonder why

FIRST OF SUMMER
UrbanDub (G. ALIPE, J. DINOPOL, R. LIM, J. MENDOZA)

Parked car
This night sky
Makes city lights shine like diamonds
our song plays on the radio.

We’re living it up
Make this night ours
We own the world
I wish this lasts forever
Alone with you tonight
Further in you feels so right.

I’m giving it up and just a little more
This heartfelt leap I surrender
With arms raised tonight.

Drive me away
cuz the night just feels right
take me away with you tonight
anywhere with you.

Our song plays on…
Parked car, night sky
Alone with you tonight…

started as a monday...

...but felt like a friday. or a saturday. Hmmm. what's wrong with this picture?

Checking out MM's finest in avant arde designs as well as peering in first into a beachin' line fo clothing sounded something i should be doing on the weekend, not on a Monday. But hell, it's fashion week, and as they say, fasyon! never dies.

So armed with new shoes (which, btw, were NOT a good buy, pretty as they may be), my new dress (lovely shade of spring), and a gal pal in hand (we were only too happy to chill and have a few free drinks!), we caught the show halfway into its end.

Social swarming eludes my desire to be anonymous as we saw old college mates, familiar (?) faces and well, new friends.
Booze, good sounds and great people made the night a lot better than we first assumed it would be. The night ends with some good ol' dancing, some tipsy-ness (no phone fiasco, thank you!) and a sweet ride home. The only question ihad for the night, aside from why did Sandwich only belt out two songs, was:

Where did my ziggies go???

Damn.

+ + +

Nightcap of music, jamming and some lovely motorcycle ogling at Blueridge. ahhh, ce'st la vie.

Strains of "the way you look tonight" just heightens the melancholy mood set by a lovely view of Marikina and a few beers.

in communicado

The mad rush of the water against my hands momentarily clears me of my drunken state. I stare at my cellphone, lazily floating away in the sink before i realize what a complete idiot i was to put it down beside the faucet. Damn damn damn. Its lights flicker momentarily before succumbing to its untimely death.

Damn. damn. damn.

+ + +

I found temporary refuge in your arms. Last night's fiasco still permeates a bit while i slept, yet your company kept it at bay.

The morning came and with it, my memories. Damn. damn. damn.

+ + +

No chance to speak or talk about what's done. *sigh* at This point, i don't even know how to bring it up. Yet in our silence we find a common ground. What is, is. Whatever the hell THAT is.

:-(

All the sadness in the world cannot surmount mine at this time...

another weekend...

The rain dampens my enthusiasm for the weekend. I keep wondering how the hell i'm going to enjoy the parties with the freakin rain coming down.

+ + +

Herb left a few days back. I feel really sad losing another friend to abroad but well, it is a scholarship, and yes, i know she will do so much better there (i miss ya girl!) We reminisced while packing, eaeting ice cream and chatting about the usual "not-so-usual" topics, like frogs and migrating toads.:-P Go figure. Herb, i hope you got in safe dearie! Make me proud and learn how to braid your hair, k?

+ + +

Depression strikes again. I think it's the weather. The rainy days have come (much to my surprise) and with it came my reminiscing/melancholy mood. I feel like lighting up a garam, nurse a cup of joe and just stare out into the nothingness.

+ + +

Had tea with an old officemate yesterday. It's great catching up with people... i miss hanging! The afternoon glow of a semi-wewt thursday is quite interesting, especially in Ortigas. I feel like i'm going back in time. Walking through emerald to Tektite (where my friend works) we reminisce of days gone by, of old colleagues and bizaare job orders, even laughed through some weird mishaps in the office. It's nice to go through memory lane once in a while.

adieu

If You Forget Me

I want you to know
one thing.

You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.

Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.

If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.

If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.

But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine.

Smoking nonstop a record of 5 sticks of garams in a spam of four hours gets to you that way.

Damn damn damn.

Maybe it's the stress of another working week (a few hours from now). Maybe it's the hormones gone haywire (damn this irregularity of mood swings). Perhaps it's the intense tension of having to be in the same room with a person you just want to kick in the freakin' arse. Maybe it's the sadness of an impending departure of a dear old friend.

maybe it's all that. *sigh*

haunts

Due to public demand (?) i have decided to share some of the stories i heard about my new abode.

One night, my housemate and his friend decided to have a few drinks in the house. It was late, and being a big old house, the house was quiet except for a few squeaks. My housemate's friend was going to sleep in the room next to mine, which had windows that was fronting the side garden.

It was dark, around midnight, and he was drunk. He noticed that there was a rustling outside his window and peered to look. There was a small kid looking back at him! His eyes were blankly staring back, and he was so pale. The hair on his back started to stand out and he bolted out of his drunken stupor, running out of the room yelling for my friend. When asked, he described the boy vividly, and my friend started smiling a bit. He later showed him a pic of a young boy. "is this the boy?" my friend asked. "yes, that's him!" My friend later told him it was his great grandfather as a young kid, who usually was seen around as a kid going about the house to "check up" on the people.

+ + +

My friend himself had a particular experience with his kid. On a really hot night, he and his niece and nephew decided to sleep in the car and turn the a/c on. His nephew, about 5, was super "likot" (restless) and was moving about always, so he tyends to get lost most of the time. Sometime during the night he woke up, and saw that his nephew was gone from the car. He saw a figure of a kid running about outsided and thought it was him, so he decided to follow it. They had a mad goosechase around the house before he realized that it wasn't his nephew. CHills started to dawn on him when he saw that it was his great grandfather. He ran back to the car, saw his nephew and niece sleeping inside, which he saw that a part nearby the car started to smoke. So he woke them up and they were able to put out the fire. In a way, he figured, it was his grandfather keeping him away from danger.

Granted, the haunts are not scary, and they are pretty harmless, but hell, i don't want to personally experience seeing one :-P

pre-weekend

It's thursday, baby!

Can't wait for the weekend... can't believe i've been working my ass off since i started, and now i am sooo ready for the freakin' weekend. Geez. :-P

+ + +

So what's been happening so far....

Banged up my freakin' knee recently, so i am "semi-seriously injured" (yep, limpin' baby) and have a seriously scary wound just staring out to the public (it hurts!)... yup, i am an accident prone girl, that i am... Had a scare the other night courtesy of my new housemate, Dex ---he scared the bejezus out of me when he started telling me scary stories about our house (which are true!) and for that i had a major attack ---- Damn you Dex! Chilled with Ais and Jane while dishing out girl talk and more over ice cream...yummmy..... work work work!

Dammit, i miss my old life. But i love my new room :-) hehhe.

+ + +

*sigh* i really do.

weekend what-have-yous part deux

Weekend pics, care of Kittee! Yey!

+ + +

F1 sunday. Got into high gear (albeit a splitting headache) as i watched the malaysian race with the blueridge crew at the Fort's Speedzone. Ooh lala. I think i'm getting into racing this year.

Didn't win in the raffle (too bad my driver got pushed out of the race on the first run) but i did get to check out the carting at Speedzone. Reminds me of Glendale's go cart place (sans the date and with better equipment). Hmmm. I wanna go carting now!

Got to chill with the cutie cousins of housemate Sonic (well, babysitting is more like it, hahah).

A confrontation with klepto girl rounded up the afternoon spent with buddies Duane, Mike, Dex, Corinne and Maloy. LOL.

Dinner at Mickey D's (whoo-hoo, i'm so cheap) and a night cap of iced coffee with Nons capped the evening. Ah, im tired.

Now the week begins. Hmmm.

I wish i slept more.

i don't wanna hear ...

i don't wanna know...

Aaaagh. The tipsy feeling that i have euphorically held unto is fast dissipating with my frustration. Frustration at the assh*le of a cabbie, at the night's eventual demise and my apparent lack of conviction to my resolutions...

please don't say i'm sorry...

Beep. I hear my phone but i don't want to check it. The messages contained may just make me feel more frustrated. Yargh. Why doi always seem to put myself in this freakin' position!??!?! Green eyed monster, take your claws out!

I've heard it all before...

I need a stiff drink to recapture my early rapture, dammit. *sigh* And work looms in a few hours.....

getting my fix

mmmm. absolut vanilia and diet coke is DA BOMB. Had my fix of it last night with galpal Corinne at Makati's Tiananmen bar. We celebrated my moving into my newpad, which incidentally, she is part of. Cheers, housemate!

A round of drinks later with Sonic after his meeting. Decided to head over to Brown Paper bag in Libis for some good chow and cheap drinks.

Loved the atmosphere but the wengweng was a little too strong.

Had a nightcap elsewhere.

mmmm.... twas a good night, indeed.

in transit (again)

Moving is such a tedious chore. I really don't understand why, but moving around here in the country a lot more effort than anywhere else. Is it the traffic? the heat? the damnable service crew who takes up most of your time by doing something else other than helping you?

+ + +

Damn. My shoes are taking up too much space (and i've already sized it down to 4 pairs, thank you very much!) Hmmm. what to sacrfice? style or comfort?

+ + +

Beep. :-)

Constantly craving absolut vanilla and diet coke these days. Hmmm. Damn, that was good stuff (thanks Nonz! I luv that drink!)

MMmmm. wonder if i can get my hands on some this coming weekend. tee-hee. That will make my week.

+ + +

Beep. There you go again, making me think. Your messages send mixed signals that i want to just sit you down and ask you upfront WHY.

+ + +

All this packing is making me go crazy. The sad part is, i really want to bring a LOT of stuff. But of course i can't. sheeesh. Talking to numbingly lethargic people over the phone doesn't help either.

ruminations

So i'm back to the province for a few days. Silence has never been as appealing to me as it is right now.

yeah right.

+ + +

Fortunately, i will be lugging back most of my stuff back to the metro in a few days (yay!) and moving into my new residence/room (evenmore yey!) as a new addition to my old college buddy's house --- a move that is surprisingly easy to make.

He and i have been friends since waay back in college, and we have been through enough sucafests, gimiks, heartbreaks and otehr chuvaloos to have anything surprising shock us both. What's just odd and somewhat interesting is he shares the same name as my last ex, so people when i tell them i was moving into his house, they automatically go into two reactions. One is: "wTF!??! He's here?" and, "Oh,jezus, you guys are back living together!??!" LOL. Pretty funny.

So anyway, with a promise of a red room and some possibilities of new furniture and stuff (yey!) i am looking forward to coming back to the metro and living again. Hmmm. Looks like this year is gonna be pretty damn interesting too....

eclipses

enclose me in your warm embrace
maybe the night won't be so cold
the sonnets echo my melancholy
the moon witnesses my musings

Your parting left me breathless
as sinewy lips met mine
drunk
we are both drunk with the moment
and harsh reality
brings us back to earth
the daylight sheds light
to the haziness of the night
and i wake up
wondering

seduce me with your eyes
your gaze
kills me on the spot
standstill
i am blinded and bound

Oddities of this crazy life: the fact that two people no matter the distance or difference, can think alike.

i love that about us, mi caramelo.

Speculations of the future offer no comfort. What is now is best taken care of. Yet amid all these rationalizations, i can't shake off your feeling for me. Just what is this!?!

OPEN Letter to our Leaders

Amidall the hullabaloo was going on last week, nobody really knew what to do after they got GMA out. I'm so glad this guy voiced it out so well.

The following letter was written by Melvin Mangada of TBWA/Santiago Mangada Puno and Associates, One of the Philippines' top creative minds, heading one of the nation's top Advertising Agencies.

====================================================
Open Letter to Our Leaders

Dear Tita Cory, Senators, Congressmen, Businessmen, Media people, Leftists, and all Bleeding Hearts Out There:

I am angry. And I know that there are many out there who are angrier than I am for the same reason. And that reason is simple. I am sick and tired of all you guys claiming to speak for me and many Filipinos. I feel like screaming every time you mouth words about fighting for my freedom and my rights, when you obviously are just thinking about yours. You tell me that the essence of democracy is providing every citizen the right to speak his or her mind and make his or her own informed judgments, but you yourselves do not respect my silence and the choices I and many others have made. In other words, your concept of democracy is limited to having your rights and your freedoms respected, at the expense of ours.

I am utterly flabbergasted that you still do not get it: we already responded to your calls, and our response has been very clear - we chose not to heed your calls to go to EDSA or to Fort Bonifacio not because we do not love our country or our freedoms or our rights, but precisely because we love our country even more. Because quite frankly, we are prepared to lose our freedoms and our rights just to move this country forward. You may think that is not correct, you can tell me all the dire warnings about the evils of authoritarian rule, but quite frankly all we see is your pathetic efforts to prop up your cause. You tell me that you are simply protecting my freedoms and my rights, but who told you to do that? I assure you that when I feel that my rights and my freedoms are at a peril, I will stand up and fight for them myself.

You tell us that GMA is not the right person to lead this country because she has done immoral acts. As someone who sees immorality being committed wantonly in many ways every day and by everyone (yes, including the ones you do), I may have become jaded. But you have not been able to offer me any viable alternative, while GMA has bent over backwards many times to accommodate you while continuing to work hard despite all the obstacles and the brickbats you have thrown her way. From where I sit, she is the one who has been working really hard to move this country forward while all of you have been so busy with one and only one thing: to make sure she does not succeed. So forgive me if I do not want to join you in your moral pissing contest. Forgive me if I have chosen to see things from another perspective. You say she is the problem. I say, we are the problem, more to the point, I think you are a bigger problem than she is. Taking her out may solve part of the problem, but that leaves us with a bigger problem: you. That is right, YOU!

While I felt outraged that she called a Comelec official during the elections and that she may have rigged the elections, I have since then taken the higher moral ground and forgiven her. Yes my dear bishops, I have done what you have told me to do since I was a child, which you say is the Christian and moral thing to do: forgive. Especially since she has asked for forgiveness and has tried to make amends for it. Erap certainly has not apologized and continues to be defiant, continuing to insult us everyday with his protestations. Cory has not apologized for her incompetence but we have forgiven her just the same because like GMA, she has worked hard after all.

I know you do not think that GMA's apology was not enough, or that she was insincere, or that that apology should not be the end of it, but please spare me the hypocrisy of telling me that you do so for the sake of protecting the moral fiber of society. The real reason is because you smell blood and wants to go for the kill.

Well, I have news for you. I do not like her too. I did not even vote for her. I voted for Raul Roco. But as much as I do not like her, I do not like you even more. I may not trust her, but guess what; I do not trust you even more.

You know why? Because all you do is whine and sabotage this country. You belittle every little progress we make; conveniently forgetting that it is not just GMA who has been working so hard to achieve them. Every single day, we keep the faith burning in our hearts that this country will finally pull itself out of the mess and we work so hard to do that. Every little progress is the result of our collective effort, we who toil hard everyday in our jobs. Yet, you persist in one and only thing: making GMA look bad in the eyes of the world and making sure that this country continues to suffer to prove your sorry point. In the process, you continue to destroy what we painstakingly try to build. So please do not be surprised that I do not share your cause. Do not be surprised that we have become contemptuous of your antics. You have moved heaven and earth to destroy her credibility, you have convened all kinds of fora and hearings and all you have done is test our patience to the core. For all your effort, you have only succeeded in dragging us further down. I say enough.

Don't get me wrong. I am not asking that we take immorality lying down, or that we let the President get away with anything illegal. But you have tried to prove your accusations all these time and you have not succeeded, so it is time to let things be. Besides, you are doing something immoral as well if not utterly unforgivable. The Magdalo soldiers are consorting with the communists - the same people who have been trying to kill democracy for years. Cory has been consorting with Erap and the Marcoses.

So please wake up and take a reality check. In the absence of true and genuine moral leadership, many of us have decided to cast our lot with the President, even if we do not like her. A flawed leader is better than scheming power hungry fools who can not even stand up for their convictions in the face of an impending arrest.

Your coup attempts and the denials that you have consequently made only underscore what we think is true: you are spineless and unreliable people whose only defense is to cry suppression when your ruse do not work. You are like bullies who taunt and provoke, but cry oppression when taken to task for your cruelty.

I would have respected you if you took the consequences of your actions like real heroes: calmly and responsibly instead of kicking and screaming and making lame excuses. You say you are willing to die for us, that you do all these things for the country and the Filipino, but you are not even willing to go to jail for us.

Come on, you really think we believe that you did not want to bring down the government when that is the one and only thing you have been trying to do in the last many months?

We love this country and we want peace and progress. Many among us do not give a f*&k who sits at Malacanang because we will work hard and do our share to make things work. If you only do your jobs, the ones that we elected you to do, things would be a lot simpler and easier for every one.

The events during the weekend only proved one thing. You are more dangerous and a serious threat to this country than GMA is. We have seen what you are capable of doing - you are ready to burn this country and reduce everything to ashes just to prove your point. If there is something that we need protection from, it is protection from you.

shake it off

You didn't ask for commitment nor did you say anything of it.

Then why does this feel like one?

i care about you a lot.

You didnt ask to have feelings but then you just realize them. it was there just slowly creeping in. Amid all the figures of speech it comes out to bite you in the ass.

beso, Mi caramelo.

You wish now you hadn't asked. Thre truth hurts though it should have been enough to just not know.

You wonder about the what ifs again. Maybe it's just better not to ask.

You begin to wonder when did everything have so much at stake. (ouch, my heart. i hear it breaking.)

happy bunnies

restless

The entire weekend flashes like a blur... in between interesting text messages and party hardy nights i reflect and find myself thinking a lot about what ifs. Life's too short for what ifs.

The music blares. The lights flash before me and people's faces blur around me as i take another sip. Pass the beer please.

I need another drink.

Beep beep. I see another text and instantly wish i am in another place. Damn, i wish you were here, mi caramelo. I scan the crowd looking for reprieve. Amid the crowd i see him.

Our eyes meet more than once. I think i'm ready for that drink now.

WTF!??!!!

The Bottom Line
Your health is ruled by your head, too, so get in touch with positive emotions.

In Detail
There's just no doubt about it -- you've been an especially good person lately. So when 'the one you thought had gotten away' suddenly turns up, think of it as a lovely surprise -- a second shot at the title. Oh, and when it happens, if you can let go of the past long enough to smile at them, give yourself a reward. You definitely deserve it.
